"Yet another magazine?"
Save your breath and hold forth the expletives for we are not here to compete with others or to inflate the magazine boom. The name of the game is India Bureau, a venture promoted by a group of journalists, technocrats, scholars and professionals from all walks of life.
"And, pray, why are you in it?"
We don't miss the sarcasm and we shall place our cards on the table. A large number of Indians are settled abroad, frittering away the expertise and resources acquired during their long stay in alien land and which our country can certainly make use of. We are aware that there exist a large number of societies which purport to lure back the overseas Indians to their roots by building clutural bridges. But has anybody thought of building an equation running the entire gamut of social, cultural and economic ties? We intend doing that.
"Is that all?"
Not really. There are a number of companies seeking export business and keen to get in touch with Indians settled abroad who are receptive to the idea of promoting trade in Indian products. India Bureau will as a clearing house of information on business opportunities abroad for Indians and in India for the overseas community. In short, our raison d'être is to bridge the gap between the country and its people abroad.
